The current Vehicle Registration Document issued to the registered owner of a vehicle is a piece of paper with computer printouts specifying particulars of the vehicle. Before the 1970s, the Vehicle Registration Document was named as Vehicle Registration Book (Figure 10) because it was in the form of a book comprising 30 pages with a dark-green hard cover, which is similar to the book of Hong Kong Driving Licence at that time. The bilingual specifications were written manually on the ID-card sized book. With the implementation of VALID System in the 1970s, the registration book has transformed into a paper sheet on which specifications were printed by computer (Figure 11). This format has remained unchanged except that paper of slightly different size is being used and the Crown logo has been removed (Figure 12).
