The Government has introduced a package of relief measures to alleviate the burden of certain sectors that are most seriously affected by the economic downturn and human swine flu.  One of the relief measures is the waiver of the vehicle licence fees for one year from 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2010.  The waiver is applicable to goods vehicles, special purpose vehicles, trailers, taxis, non-franchised public buses, public light buses, school private light buses and private buses providing student service of which the vehicle licence will become effective during the concession period. Each vehicle will enjoy the waiver subject to a maximum of 12 months.  Levies collected under the Traffic Accident Victims (Assistance Fund) Ordinance (Cap.229) is to be paid.

By the way, the total amount of fees for Passenger Service Licences (PSLs) in respect of public light buses, school private light buses, non-franchised public buses and private buses providing student service bearing the same PSL number which takes effect during the concession period will be waived for a maximum of 12 months (i.e. HK$396).  Also, the total amount of fees for Passenger Service Licence Certicate(s) in respect of the above vehicles bearing the same PSL number issued to the same vehicle and providing the same type service (scheduled / non-scheduled) which takes effect during the concession period will be waived for a maximum of 12 months (i.e. HK$160).  We have prepared a leaflet to introduce salient points of the concessionary arrangements for PSL/PSLC fees of public vehicles.  Operators concerned are welcome to download a copy of the leaflet by clicking this hyperlink.
