Lantau Closed Road Permit
Members of the public / Motorists are advised that the prohibited zone on the section of Tung Chung Road between Shek Mun Kap Road and South Lantau Road (near San Shek Wan) has been rescinded with effect from 12.01 am on 1 June 2010. However, this section of Tung Chung Road south of Shek Mun Kap Road and all roads in south Lantau are still designated as closed roads. Motorists who wish to drive into south Lantau are still required to possess valid "Lantau Closed Road Permit" and to abide by the condition of use as stated on the closed road permit.
Tourism services operators who intend to arrange tours to and from South Lantau via Tung Chung Road or other motorists who need to drive on Tung Chung Road on Lantau must possess the concerned permits issued by the TD. Motorists will be prosecuted for entering Tung Chung Road if they do not have valid permits.
The application form for the "Lantau Closed Road Permit" for tourism sector is TD348B; the form for other motorists is TD348.

Permit Fee
Fee shall be charged for the issue of Lantau Closed Road Permit. A fee of $900 per annual or $75 per month is charged for the first issue of the permit and a fee of $660 per annual or $55 per month is charged for the renewal of permit. If the application period forms any part of a month, it will be counted as a month and charged accordingly. If the permit holder applies for amending the vehicle registration number, date of use, vehicle class or any other information shown on the collected permit, he is required to pay again the permit fee accordingly. The paid permit fee is not refundable.
Issue of a duplicate Lantau Closed Road Permit is subject to a fee of $65.
