Special traffic arrangements for public procession

The Transport Department (TD) today (November 10) reminded the public of the special transport and traffic arrangements for the public procession on Sunday (November 12).

A TD spokesman said that a public procession from Maple Street Playground in Cheung Sha Wan to Star Ferry Clocktower in Tsim Sha Tsui would be held on Sunday (November 12).  To facilitate the procession, Police and the TD will implement special traffic and transport arrangements between Sham Shui Po and Tsim Sha Tsui.

The main points of the special traffic and transport arrangements are as follows:

* Intermittent closure of traffic lanes in Cheung Sha Wan, Mongkok, Yau Ma Tei, Jordan and Tsim Sha Tsui areas will be implemented from 2.30pm in phases.

* More than 30 bus routes passing through the affected areas will be diverted and some of the bus stops will be temporarily suspended.

The spokesman also appealed to people planning to go to the affected areas to use public transport. Motorists are advised to avoid driving into the affected areas. They are also advised to exercise tolerance and patience, and observe the instructions of the Police on site. In addition, commuters are advised to plan their route early and allow more travelling time in case of unexpected delay.

Notices will be displayed by public transport operators to advise passengers of the temporary arrangements. Passengers should take notice of passenger information at bus stops and should pay attention to the latest traffic news via the media.

Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements for the events are available on the department's website (http://www.td.gov.hk/).
