Special traffic and public transport arrangements for international cycling race in Sha Tin

The Transport Department today (December 21) announced that to facilitate the holding of the 11th Tour of South China Sea International Cycling Race - Sha Tin Stage & Sha Tin Festival Cycling Fun Day, special traffic and public transport arrangements would be implemented from about 3am on Christmas Day (December 25). The special arrangements during the period are as specified below:

(A) Road closure

     The following road sections will be closed from 3am to noon:

-    Yuen Wo Road westbound between Sha Tin Rural Committee Road and Fo Tan Road;

-    Tai Chung Kiu Road eastbound between Sha Tin Rural Committee Road and Fo Tan Road;

-    Sha Tin Rural Committee Road southbound between Yuen Wo Road and Tai Chung Kiu Road; and

-    Fo Tan Road northbound between Yuen Wo Road and Tai Chung Kiu Road.


(B) Traffic diversion

    In connection with the above closure of roads, the following traffic diversions will be implemented:

-   Motorists on Fo Tan Road heading for Sha Tin Central are advised to travel via Tai Po Road westbound or Tai Chung Kiu Road westbound.

-   Motorists on Tai Chung Kiu Road eastbound heading for Ma On Shan, Sha Tin City One, and Kwong Yuen areas are advised to travel via Yuen Wo Road eastbound or Sha Tin Wai Road.

-   Motorists on Sha Tin Rural Committee Road southbound or Yuen Wo Road heading for Tai Chung Kiu Road or Sha Tin Wai Road are advised to travel via Fo Tan Road southbound.

-   Motorists on Sha Tin Road or Tai Chung Kiu Road heading for Sha Tin Rural Committee Road or Yuen Wo Road are advised to travel via Sha Tin Rural Committee Road northbound.

(C) Diversion of bus and green minibus routes:

    During the closure of Yuen Wo Road westbound and Fo Tan Road northbound:

-   KMB routes 269D, 48X, 72, 80M, 81, 81K, 85, 88K, 89, N270 and N271, GMB routes 60K and 62K on journeys towards Sha Tin Central/KCR Station, Kowloon, Tsuen Wan or Yuen Long will be re-routed to travel via Tai Po Road westbound instead of Yuen Wo Road westbound before resuming their normal routeing;

-   KMB routes 40X, 43X, 70, 72A, 73A, 80K, 82K, 85K and 86, GMB routes 501S, 61S and 810 on journeys towards Sha Tin Central/KCR Station, Kowloon, Kwai Chung, Tsuen Wan or Sheung Shui will be re-routed to travel via Tai Chung Kiu Road westbound instead of Yuen Wo Road westbound before resuming their normal routeing; and

-   Airport route A41P on journey towards the Airport will be re-routed to travel via Sha Tin Rural Committee Road northbound instead of Fo Tan Road northbound before resuming its normal routeing.

    The existing bus and GMB stops for KMB routes 269D, 40X, 48X, 70, 72, 72A, 80K, 80M, 81, 81K, 85, 85K, 86, 88K, 89, N270 and N271, GMB routes 60K、61S、62K and 810 on Yuen Wo Road westbound outside Shatin Sports Ground and Jockey Club Swimming Pool will be temporarily suspended. Replacement stops will be provided for KMB routes 40X, 70, 72A, 80K, 85K, 86 and GMB route 810 on Tai Chung Kiu Road westbound outside Belair Gardens and Rivera Garden.

    During the closure of Tai Chung Kiu Road eastbound:

-   KMB routes 49X, 74A, 284 and 299, GMB routes 65A, 65K, 67K, 803, 803A, 804 and 809K on journeys towards Sha Tin Wai, Kwong Yuen, Ma On Shan, Tai Po or Sai Kung will be re-routed to travel via Yuen Wo Road eastbound and Fo Tan Road southbound instead of Tai Chung Kiu Road eastbound before resuming their normal routeing;

-   KMB routes 86K (Kam Ying Court bound) and 89X (Kwun Tong bound) on Sha Tin Station Circuit will be re-routed to travel via Tai Po Road eastbound and Fo Tan Road southbound instead of Tai Chung Kiu Road eastbound before resuming their normal routeing; and

-   KMB routes 81C, 82M, 85A, 86C and N281, Cross Harbour routes 182 and N182, Airport route A41, and GMB route 65S on journeys towards Ma On Shan, Kwong Yuen or Yu Chui Court will be re-routed to travel via Sha Tin Wai Road southbound and Sha Tin Road instead of Tai Chung Kiu Road eastbound before resuming their normal routeing.

    The existing bus and GMB stops for KMB routes 49X, 74A, 81C, 82M, 85A, 86C, 86K, 89X, 284, 299 and N281, Cross Harbour routes 182 and N182, Airport route A41, and GMB routes 65A, 65K, 67K, 803, 803A, 804 and 809K on Tai Chung Kiu Road eastbound opposite Rivera Garden and Belair Gardens will be temporarily suspended. Replacement stops will be provided for KMB routes 49X, 284, 299 and 74A on Yuen Wo Road eastbound outside Baptist Lui Ming Choi Secondary School and Wo Che Shopping Centre. A replacement stop will be provided on Sha Tin Wai Road outside Greenfield Court for Airport route A41; and another one on Sha Tin Wai Road outside Shatin Park for KMB routes 81C, 86C, 82M, 85A, N281 and Cross Harbour routes 182 and N182.

    During the closure of Sha Tin Rural Committee Road southbound:

-   KMB routes 81K and 47X, Cross Harbour routes 170 and N170, Airport route E42, and GMB route 809A on journeys to Pok Hong, Sha Kok, Sun Tin Wai, Chun Shek or Hong Kong Island will be re-routed to operate via Lion Rock Tunnel Road and Tai Chung Kiu Road before resuming their normal routeing.

    The existing bus stop on Wang Pok Street outside Lucky Plaza for Airport route E42 and GMB stop on Sha Tin Wai Road outside Greenfield Court for GMB route 809A will be temporarily suspended.
 
    Actual implementation of the road closure, traffic and public transport diversions will be made by the Police at the time depending on conditions in the areas.
 
    People going to the affected areas are advised to use public transport and avoid driving into the areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists are advised to exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. The public should watch out for the latest traffic news through radio broadcasts.
