Special Traffic and Transport Arrangements for Public Procession

The Transport Department today (March 2) reminded people of special traffic and transport arrangements for the public procession on Sunday (March 4).

A department spokesman said the public procession would be from Cheung Sha Wan Playground to Star Ferry Clocktower in Tsim Sha Tsui. To facilitate the procession, Police and the department would implement special traffic and transport arrangements between Sham Shui Po and Tsim Sha Tsui.

The main points of the special traffic and transport arrangements are as follows:

* Intermittent closure of traffic lanes in Cheung Sha Wan, Mong Kok, Yau Ma Tei, Jordan and Tsim Sha Tsui areas will be implemented from 2pm in phases.

* About 40 bus routes passing through the affected areas will be diverted and some of the bus stops will be temporarily suspended.

The spokesman also appealed to people planning to go to the affected areas to use public transport. Motorists are advised to avoid driving into the affected areas. They are also advised to exercise tolerance and patience, and observe the instructions of the Police on site. In addition, passengers are advised to plan their route early and allow more travelling time in case of unexpected delay.

Notices will be displayed by public transport operators to advise passengers of the temporary arrangements. Passengers should take notice of passenger information at bus stops and should watch out the latest traffic news via media.

Details of the special traffic and public transport arrangements are available at the "Traffic Notices" of the department's website.
