Special traffic and transport arrangements for public procession on Sunday

The Transport Department today (April 20) reminded people about special traffic and transport arrangements for a public procession on Sunday (April 22).

A spokesman for the Transport Department said that the public procession would be from Maple Street Playground to Star Ferry Clocktower in Tsim Sha Tsui. To facilitate the procession, the Police and the Transport Department will implement special traffic and transport arrangements between Sham Shui Po and Tsim Sha Tsui:

The special traffic and transport arrangements are mainly as follows:

- Intermittent closure of traffic lanes in Cheung Sha Wan, Mong Kok, Yau Ma Tei, Jordan and Tsim Sha Tsui areas will be implemented from 2pm in phases; and

- About 40 bus routes passing through the affected areas will be diverted and some of the bus stops will be temporarily suspended.

The spokesman also appealed to people planning to go to the affected areas to use public transport.  Motorists are advised to avoid driving into the affected areas. They are also advised to exercise tolerance and patience, and observe the instructions of the Police on site. In addition, passengers are advised to plan their route early and allow more travelling time in case of unexpected delay.

Notices will be displayed by bus companies to advise passengers of the temporary arrangements. Passengers should take notice of passenger information at bus stops and should watch out the latest traffic news via media.

Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are uploaded at the Transport Department's homepage.
