Speedier process for renewal of Closed Road Permits

The Transport Department has announced that from Wednesday (April 28), applicants wanting to renew their Closed Road Permits (CRPs) for cross-boundary vehicles will be issued with new CRPs on the day of application if the application and the required supporting documents are submitted before 4pm on weekdays.

At present, applications for the renewal of CRPs, which is required when cross-boundary vehicles are being replaced, take about four working days to process. An applicant has to go to the Transport Department twice to complete the process: the first time to submit the application and a second time to collect a new CRP. The department has conducted a review to streamline the application process with a view to improving customer service and operational efficiency.

When the new procedure is adopted, the processing time would be shortened from four working days to one, thus enhancing service quality.

To tie in with the implementation of the new arrangements, the application form for the renewal of CRPs has been revised. Applicants must use the new application form with effect from Wednesday.

The new application form together with the relevant guidance notes can be downloaded from the department's website (www.info.gov.hk.td) from April 28. They are also available at the following offices:

* Cross Boundary Unit, 10/F, Harbour Building, 38 Pier Road, Central, Hong Kong
