Special traffic and transport arrangements for Cheung Chau Bun Festival celebrations

The Transport Department today (May 22) announced that the following special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented at Central and Cheung Chau in connection with Bun Festival Celebrations 2007:

Ferry Service

     The ferry service between Central and Cheung Chau will be strengthened on May 24 and 25. Additional sailings will be operated to meet passenger demand as and when required. In order to cope with the passenger demand after the "Bun Scrambling Competition", an additional sailing will leave Cheung Chau for Central at 1.15am on May 25.

Bus Service

     From 12.30am to about 3am on May 25, (i) a special bus service route No 104R from Central Pier No 5 to Mong Kok will be operated, (ii) departures of overnight bus routes No N8X (Central (Macau Ferry) - Siu Sai Wan), N90 (Central (Macau Ferry) – South Horizon), N182 (Central (Macau Ferry) – Kwong Yuen) and N619 (Central (Macau Ferry) – Shun Lee) will be diverted to Central Pier No 5 via Man Kwong Street, Man Yiu Street, Man Cheung Street, Jubilee Street underpass, Connaught Road Central, Rumsey Street before resuming their original routeings on Des Voeux Road Central.

Temporary Suspension of Taxi Stands

     Taxi stand and cross-harbour taxi stand at Central Pier No 5 and 6 will be temporarily suspended from 9pm on May 23 to about midnight on May 24.

     People are advised to plan their journey, pay attention to the information on the latest traffic situations broadcast via the mass media. They are also advised to be patient and follow the instructions given by the Police and the staff of public transport operators at Central and Cheung Chau Piers.
