Flyovers for Cross-boundary Goods Vehicles to Lok Ma Chau Control Point to be commissioned Sunday

The Transport Department today (May 24) announced that two new flyovers for exclusive use by cross-boundary goods vehicles to Lok Ma Chau Control Point had been completed.  The flyovers would be opened to cross-boundary goods vehicles from Fanling Highway (Yuen Long bound) and San Tin Highway (Sheung Shui bound) with effect from 7am on Sunday (May 27).

A department spokesman said the new roads would segregate northbound goods vehicles from passenger vehicles and provide additional road capacity. This would help improve the traffic situation at San Tin Interchange.

Each new elevated road has two lanes and a speed limit of 50 km/hour.

Upon commissioning of the new elevated roads, all northbound cross-boundary goods vehicles from Fanling Highway (Yuen Long bound) and San Tin Highway (Sheung Shui bound) must use the new elevated slip roads to Lok Ma Chau Control Point direct.  All other northbound cross-boundary passenger vehicles from the two highways would have to continue to use the existing at-grade slip roads to Lok Ma Chau Control Point via San Tin Interchange and San Sham Road.  The traffic arrangement for all southbound vehicles would not be affected.

Also opened at the same time was a slip road connecting with eastbound Castle Peak Road for access of all cross-boundary vehicles to Lok Ma Chau Control Point.

Direction signs and road markings would be provided on-site to guide motorists.
