Special traffic and transport arrangements for public procession

 The Transport Department today (May 25) reminded the public about the special traffic and transport arrangements for a public procession on Sunday (May 27).

     A department spokesman said the public procession would go from Victoria Park to Central Government Offices, via Sugar Street, Yee Wo Street westbound, Hennessy Road westbound, Queensway westbound, Queen's Road Central westbound and Battery Path. To facilitate the procession, the following special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented between Causeway Bay and Central:

* Road closures and traffic diversions:
Gloucester Road southbound between Causeway Bay flyover and Causeway Road, Gloucester Road northbound south of Sugar Street, Sugar Street, Yee Wo Street westbound, Jardine's Bazaar, Hennessy Road westbound between Yee Wo Street and Lee Garden Road from about 3pm. In addition, intermittent closure of slow lanes of Hennessy Road westbound west of Lee Garden Road, Queensway westbound and Queen's Road Central east of Ice House Street will be implemented in phases.

* Public transport services:
42 bus routes and one green minibus route, which operate at the affected areas will be temporarily diverted and some of the bus stops will be temporarily suspended. The public light bus stand at Sugar Street will be temporarily suspended. The concerned public transport operators will arrange publicity to inform passengers of the special arrangements.

     People who plan to go to the affected areas are advised to use public transport. In case of traffic congestion, motorists are requested to exercise tolerance and patience, and follow instructions of the Police. People should watch out for the latest traffic news via media.
