Special traffic and transport arrangements for public procession on April 11

Special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented to facilitate a public procession from Charter Road, Central to the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (LOCG) on Hong Kong Island on April 11 (Sunday).

The procession will depart from Charter Road pedestrian precinct in Central and march to the LOCG via Des Voeux Road Central, Morrison Street, Connaught Road West service road, Centre Street and Des Voeux Road West.

Subject to the actual traffic and crowd conditions, a series of special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented at about 3.30 pm on April 11 to facilitate the public procession. They include: -

* Temporary road closure and traffic diversion in Central and Western areas;
* Temporary diversion of about 28 bus routes and one green minibus route passing through these areas; and
* Temporary suspension of some bus stops and tram stops.

Members of the public who plan to go to the affected areas are advised to use public transport. Motorists should avoid driving there. In cases of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and take heed of instructions of the Police.

Transport Department and Police will closely monitor the traffic situation, and will implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. The general public should listen to radio broadcast for the latest traffic conditions.

Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements to facilitate the above works are now available at the "Traffic Notices" of the Department's Homepage (http://www.td.gov.hk/traffic_notices/index.htm).
