Commissioning of Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point on Wednesday (with photos)

The Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point will open for public use at 4pm on Wednesday (August 15).

     The Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Public Transport Interchange will also begin operation at the same time, providing various public transport services for visitors travelling to and from the Mainland.

     "Upon the commissioning of the Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point, passengers will be able to travel to and from Mainland through this new control point by using different kinds of public transport services. Apart from the East Rail Lok Ma Chau Spur Line, passengers can also travel to the public transport interchange next to the Lok Ma Chau Terminus by franchised bus, green minibus and taxi, and cross the boundary through the new control point," a government spokesman said today (August 13).

     On Wednesday, the first franchised bus and green minibus will leave from West Rail Yuen Long Station Public Transport Interchange and Yuen Long (Fook Hong Street) respectively at 4pm; and the first franchised bus and green minibus will leave from Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Public Transport Interchange at 4.15pm.

     The control point will operate 16 hours a day from 6.30am to 10.30pm during its initial opening period to facilitate passengers for interchange with the last train of the Shenzhen metro line 4 at 11pm.

     Authorities of the Shenzhen and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region will review the operating condition and passenger flow three months after the opening of the control point to assess when to extend the operating hours of the control point to midnight.

     Since the Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point (including the Public Transport Interchange) is located inside the Frontier Closed Area, cross-boundary visitors must hold a valid travel document to pass through the control point. Non-cross-boundary travellers need to hold a valid Closed Area Permit to enter the area.  

     Cross-boundary visitors are advised to plan their trips well in advance and check the latest traffic conditions through various channels.      In addition to the Lo Wu Control Point, Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point is the second control point connecting with railway service. A public transport interchange is also available in the new control point, providing franchised bus, green minibus and taxi services.
