Special traffic, transport arrangements at Tseung Kwan O for Chung Yeung Festival

The Transport Department today (October 17) reminded people about the special traffic and transport arrangements at Tseung Kwan O around Chung Yeung Festival.

A department spokesman said that as large number of gravesweepers were expected to go to Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery around Chung Yeung Festival, special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented on roads in the vicinity.

Road closure measures for this year's Chung Yeung Festival will be similar to the previous festivals. Apart from emergency vehicles, the access road leading to the cemetery will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 5.30am to 8pm on October 19 (Chung Yeung Festival day).

"General road closure" will be implemented from 5.30am to 6pm on October 20, 21, 27 and 28. All vehicles are prohibited from using the access road leading to the cemetery except KMB special bus route No. 14S, emergency vehicles, hearses, vehicles in funeral processions and with permits issued by the cemetery. KMB's special bus route will provide service between 7am and 5.25pm plying between Lei Yue Mun Road in Yau Tong and the Cemetery. Passengers planning to take the special bus should pay attention to the schedule of the "General road closure".

As busier traffic at Tseung Kwan O around Chung Yeung Festival is expected, the department spokesman appealed to people to make full use of public transport, avoid going to the Cemetery on busy days and follow the instructions of on-site road signs, the police or other personnel on duty around the Cemetery. Motorists should avoid driving to the affected areas and pay attention to the information on the latest traffic situations broadcast via the mass media.
