Special traffic and transport arrangements for procession tomorrow

 The Transport Department today (October 18) reminded people about the special transport and traffic arrangements for the public procession tomorrow (October 19).  

     "The public procession will go from Victoria Park to Chater Garden in Central.  The procession will begin about 2.30pm and take the route along Yee Wo Street, Hennessy Road and Queensway. Special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented between Causeway Bay and Admiralty," a department spokesman said.
   
     Main points of the special traffic and transport arrangements are as follows:

* Temporary road closures and traffic diversion in Causeway Bay, Wan Chai and Admiralty will be implemented.  Roads at Causeway Bay shopping area and in the vicinity of Victoria Park will be closed from 1.30pm. The westbound carriageway of Yee Wo Street, Hennessy Road and Queensway will be closed from 2.15pm in phases.  

* All bus routes and green minibus routes operating in the affected areas will be diverted;  

* Tram service will be maintained; and

* Bus stops, public light bus stops, taxi stands and car parks in the affected areas will be temporarily suspended.  

     The spokesman also appealed to the public who plan to go to the affected areas are advised to use public transport.  Motorists are advised to follow the traffic signs and avoid driving into the affected areas if not strictly necessary.  They are also advised to exercise tolerance and patience, and observe the instructions of Police.

     Public transport operators will put up notices to inform passengers of the temporary arrangements. Passengers should take notice of the passenger information at bus stops and the public should watch out the latest traffic news via media.
