Special traffic and transport arrangements for public procession on Sunday

The Transport Department today (October 26) reminded the public about the special traffic and transport arrangements for the public procession on Sunday (October 28).

"The public procession from Yung Shu Tau Park in Yau Ma Tei to Central Government Offices would be held on Sunday.  To facilitate the procession, special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented between Yau Ma Tei and Tsim Sha Tsui," a department spokesman said.

Main points of the special traffic and transport arrangements are as follows:

* Intermittent closure of traffic lanes in Yau Ma Tei, Jordan and Tsim Sha Tsui areas will be implemented from 2.30pm in phases; and
* 17 bus routes passing through the affected areas will be diverted and some of the bus stops will be temporarily suspended.

The spokesman also appealed to motorists to avoid driving into the affected areas. They are also advised to exercise tolerance and patience in case of traffic congestion, take heed of instruction of the Police and watch for the latest traffic news through media.  People who plan to go to the affected area are advised to plan their journey early, use alternative routes and allow more travelling time to cater for unexpected delay.

Bus companies will display notices to advise passengers of the temporary arrangements.  Passengers should pay attention to the arrangements of route diversions and suspension of bus stops.

The Transport Department and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and will implement appropriate measures whenever necessary.  People should watch out for the latest traffic news.

Details of the special traffic and public transport arrangements are available on the department's website:
