Special traffic and transport arrangements for religious events at HK Stadium
The Transport Department today reminded the public of the special transport and traffic arrangements for religious events at Hong Kong Stadium between November 28 and December 2, 2007.
A department spokesman said that religious events will be held at Hong Kong Stadium between November 28 and December 2, 2007. To facilitate the arrival and dispersal of participants, special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in the vicinity of Hong Kong Stadium during the following dates and times:
Date Time of implementing special arrangements
November 28 and 29 From 4.30pm onwards
November 30 and December 1 From 11.00am onwards
December 2 From 12.30pm onwards
During these times, Caroline Hill Road between its eastern junction with Leighton Road and Cotton Path will be closed. Caroline Hill Road and Eastern Hospital Road will be re-routed for one-way anti-clockwise traffic. In addition, bus, GMB and residents' service routes operating at affected areas of Hong Kong Stadium will be temporarily diverted. Bus and GMB stops at Leighton Road will also be temporarily suspended.
The spokesman reminded the public that a night horse race meeting and the "Symphony under the Stars" will also be held on November 28 (Wednesday) and on November 30 at Happy Valley Racecourse respectively. The traffic at Gloucester Road eastbound heading for Happy Valley, Leighton Road at Causeway Bay and Happy Valley during the event period will become more congested.
The spokesman advised members of the public who plan to go to the affected areas to use public transport. Motorists are advised to follow the traffic signs and avoid driving into the affected areas unnecessarily. They are also advised to exercise tolerance and patience, observe the instructions of Police, and watch out for the latest traffic news via media.
