Special traffic and transport arrangements on Sunday

The Transport Department today (December 14) reminded the public of the special transport and traffic arrangements for a concert at Hong Kong Stadium on December 16 (Sunday).

     "To facilitate the arrival and dispersal of participants of the concert, special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in the vicinity of Hong Kong Stadium," said a spokesman for the department.

     Main points of the special traffic and transport arrangements are as follows:

* From about 1pm, Caroline Hill Road between its eastern junction with Leighton Road and Cotton Path will be closed. Caroline Hill Road and Eastern Hospital Road will be re-routed to one-way anti-clockwise traffic;

* From about 6.20pm, Caroline Hill Road and Eastern Hospital Road between Stadium Path and Cotton Path will be closed by the Police to facilitate participants' dispersal;

* Bus and GMB routes operating at affected areas of Hong Kong Stadium will be temporarily diverted. Some of the bus stops at Leighton Road will also be temporarily suspended.

     The spokesman issued a reminder that a public procession from Causeway Bay to Central Government Offices would also be held from about 2pm on the same day. The traffic at Gloucester Road eastbound heading for Happy Valley; Leighton Road and Yee Wo Street will become more congested.  

     The spokesman appealed to the public who plan to go to the affected areas to use public transport. Motorists are advised to follow the traffic signs and avoid driving into the affected areas unnecessarily.  They are also advised to exercise tolerance and patience, and observe Police instructions.  

     Notices will be displayed by public transport operators to inform passengers of the temporary arrangements. Passengers should take notice of the passengers' information at bus stops and the public should watch out for the latest traffic news via media.
