Fifth invitation exercise for Personalised Vehicle Registration Marks Scheme begins tomorrow

The Transport Department today (December 17) announced the launch of the fifth invitation exercise of the Personalised Vehicle Registration Marks (PVRMs) Scheme tomorrow (December 18).

A department spokesman said, "Applications are invited for the allocation of PVRMs upon sale by auction and completed application forms should reach the department no later than January 29, 2008.  If there are more than 1,500 applicants, those to be considered will be selected by lot."

Starting from tomorrow, people can download application forms (TD569) and Guidance Notes for Applications from the department's website (www.td.gov.hk), or obtain them from the its Licensing Offices as well as the Public Enquiry Service Centres of the Home Affairs Department.  Each applicant can submit only one application in each exercise.  If more than one application is submitted by an applicant, none of his/her applications will be processed.

Applications can be put in the drop-in box at any of the department Licensing Offices or posted to Vehicle Registration Marks Unit, Transport Department, Room 506-508, 5/F, Harcourt House, 39 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong.  No payment of deposit is required at this stage.

Before completing the application forms, applicants should carefully read the Guidance Notes.  They should note that after the submission of applications, they cannot withdraw the application or change arrangements of the PVRM as stated in their application forms.

"For applicants who were not selected by lot in the fourth exercise but have authorised the Transport Department to roll over their applications, if they want to submit another application in the fifth exercise, they should take note of, and complete where appropriate, the part on Authorisation/Withdrawal of Authorization in the application form," the spokesman said.

Upon receipt of an application, the department will send an acknowledgement bearing an application number to the applicant by ordinary post.  Applicants who have not received any acknowledgement within two weeks after submission of their applications can call the Enquiry Hotline at 2804 2600.

"After selection by lot, the department will notify applicants if their applications are selected.  The selected applicants will be requested to pay a deposit if their proposed PVRMs are selected and can meet the basic combination requirements.  A list of application numbers of the selected applicants will also be posted on the department website and the notice boards of the department's Licensing Offices, and published in local newspapers.  Applicants who have not received any notification or who do not find their application numbers on the list should regard their applications as unsuccessful," the spokesman said.

Further information on the scheme can be found in the Guidance Notes.
