Special traffic and transport arrangements for public procession on Sunday

The Transport Department (TD) today (January 11) reminds the public that special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented to facilitate a public procession to be held at about 3.30pm at Victoria Park on Sunday (January 13). The procession will be held from Victoria Park to Central Government Offices, via Sugar Street, Yee Wo Street westbound, Hennessy Road westbound, Queensway westbound, Queen's Road Central westbound and Battery Path.

     The following special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in Causeway Bay and Central from about 3.30pm on Sunday:

1. Road closures and traffic diversions include: Gloucester Road southbound between Causeway Bay flyover and Causeway Road, Gloucester Road northbound south of Sugar Street, Sugar Street, Yee Wo Street westbound between Pennington Street and Hennessy Road, Jardine's Bazaar, Hennessy Road westbound between Yee Wo Street and Lee Garden Road, Tang Lung Street, the section of Yun Ping Road between Kai Chiu Road and Pak Sha Road, Kai Chiu Road and the section of Lee Garden Road between Kai Chiu Road and Hennessy Road. In addition, the slow lane of Hennessy Road westbound west of Lee Garden Road, Queensway westbound and Queen's Road Central east of Ice House Street will be intermittently closed;

2. Public transport services: bus routes and green minibus routes that operate in the affected areas will be temporarily diverted.  The concerned public transport operators will put up notices to inform affected passengers of the temporary arrangements; and

3. The public light bus stand at Sugar Street will be temporarily suspended.

     Members of the public who plan to go to the affected areas are advised to use public transport. In cases of traffic congestion, motorists are advised to exercise tolerance and patience, and follow instructions of the Police. The public should listen out for the latest radio traffic news.
