Agreement reached for cross-boundary private cars with closed road permits

*******************************************************

The Transport Department today (May 23) announced that the Hong Kong and Guangdong governments had reached agreement to allow cross-boundary private cars with closed road permits (CRP) for Shenzhen Bay Port (SBP) to cross the boundary via the Lok Ma Chau (LMC) crossing between midnight and 6.30am with effect from next Monday (May 26).

"Cross-boundary private cars with closed road permits for Shenzhen Bay Port will be allowed to use the Lok Ma Chau crossing during the overnight period from midnight to 6.30am until further notice.  This arrangement aims to facilitate them to cross the boundary outside the operating hours of SBP.  This is similar to the existing arrangement for cross-boundary private cars issued with CRPs for Man Kam To and/or Sha Tau Kok crossings to use the LMC crossing during the overnight period," a spokesman for the Transport Department said.

"The department will send letters to the private car CRP holders of Shenzhen Bay Port telling them of the detailed arrangements.  Holders can use the LMC crossing during the designated hours with their valid CRPs and the approval letters issued by the department."
