Special traffic and transport arrangements for public procession on June 1

    The Transport Department (TD) reminds the public that a public procession will be held at about 3.15pm from Victoria Park to Central Government Offices on June 1 (Sunday). The procession will take the route via Sugar Street, Yee Wo Street westbound, Hennessy Road westbound, Queensway westbound, Queen’s Road Central westbound and Battery Path.

    To facilitate the above procession, the following special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented from about 3pm onwards:

1) Gloucester Road southbound between Causeway Bay flyover and Causeway Road, Gloucester Road northbound south of Sugar Street, Sugar Street, Yee Wo Street westbound between Pennington Street and Hennessy Road, Jardine’s Bazaar, Hennessy Road westbound between Yee Wo Street and Canal Road West, Tang Lung Street, the section of Yun Ping Road between Kai Chiu Road and Pak Sha Road, Kai Chiu Road and the section of Lee Garden Road between Kai Chiu Road and Hennessy Road will be temporarily closed. In addition, the slow lane of Hennessy Road westbound west of Canal Road West, Queensway westbound and Queen’s Road Central westbound east of Ice House Street will be intermittently closed; and

2) 37 bus routes and one green minibus route which operate in the affected areas will be temporarily diverted.  The concerned public transport operators will arrange publicity to inform passengers of the temporary arrangements.

    People who plan to go to the affected areas are advised to use public transport. In cases of traffic congestion, motorists are requested to exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. The public should watch out for the latest traffic news via media.
