Latest public transport situation (up to 12.30 pm)

**************************************************

Public transport in Hong Kong has mostly returned to normal today (June 25) after the typhoon.

All MTR services, New World First Bus, KMB and Citybus services are gradually resuming normal.  Peak Tram, Tramways and Lok Ma Chau-Huanggang Shuttle Bus (Yellow Bus) have resumed normal services.

To ensure public safety, all lanes of Keung Shan Road, Tai O Road and Sham Wat Road in Lantau Island have been temporarily closed. New Lantao Bus routes 2, 21 and 23 on Keung Shan Road are suspended, while routes 1 and 11 is truncated to Shek Pik.

Most ferry services have resumed as normal except for the service between Tai O and Tuen Mun, via Tung Chung and Sha Lo Wan.

Due to rough sea conditions in Lantau, the emergency ferry service between Tung Chung and Tai O cannot be operated for the time being.  When the sea condition permits, the service will be provided as soon as possible.  Passengers are advised to be patient.

The latest traffic news can be obtained at the Transport Department hotline 2804 2600 and 183 4567. The New Lantao Bus Company also provides a hotline service at 2984 9848 to inform the public of the most updated arrangement on New Lantao Bus services.

People should contact individual public transport operators for specific service details and remember that, although the situation is returning to normal, some delays may occur.

They are also advised to listen to radio or television broadcasts on the latest traffic news.
