TD signs contract for closed circuit television system in Hong Kong

    The Transport Department today (July 22) signed a contract with PCCW-HKT Telephone Limited for telecommunication services for a closed circuit television system in Hong Kong.

    "The contract (No TD 3/2008) includes the provision of a digital telecommunication network for the transmission of video images captured from about 400 closed circuit television cameras installed in the territory to various traffic control centres, and the leasing of the telecommunication services for five years," a spokesman for the Transport Department said.

    "The works include detailed system design, supply, installation and commissioning of a digital telecommunication network and associated civil works.

    "The works began this month (July) and the installation is targeted for completion in April 2010," the spokesman said.

    The Transport Department has appointed Ove Arup and Partners Hong Kong Limited to complete the functional design and to supervise the contract implementation.
