Special traffic arrangements during Ching Ming Festival

Special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented at the Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery to ensure the safety of those going to sweep graves during the Ching Ming Festival.

A large number of grave sweepers is expected to visit the cemetery during this period.

A Transport Department spokesman said the arrangements would be similar to the arrangements implemented during the last Chung Yeung Festival. The service road leading to the cemetery will be closed to all vehicular traffic, except emergency vehicles, from 5.30am to 8pm on the day of the Ching Ming Festival (April 5) and all Sundays from March 6 to April 25.

It will be closed to general vehicular traffic from 5.30am to 6pm on the first and last day of Easter Holidays, and all Saturdays from March 6 to April 25 (March 6, 13, 20, 27 and April 3, 9, 10, 12, 17, 24). KMB's special service, emergency vehicles, hearses, vehicles in funeral processions and vehicles possessing cemetary permits are excluded. KMB Special Service No 14S will operate between Lei Yue Mun Road, Yau Tong and the cemetery from 7am to 5.25pm to serve the public.

The spokesman appealed to the public to make full use of public transport, avoid visiting the cemetery on busy days and follow the instructions of the Police and other personnel on duty. The public is reminded that to visit the cemetery on the general closure days it is necessary to take KMB's special service.
