Special traffic and transport arrangements for HK-Shanghai International Cycling Race

     The Transport Department announced today (October 16) that the following special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented on Hong Kong Island this Sunday (October 19) morning to facilitate the 3rd Tour of the Hong Kong - Shanghai International Cycling Race.  The arrangements include:

Road Closure and Traffic Diversions

- The race will start at Queen's Road Central for Chai Wan via Pedder Street, Connaught Road Central eastbound, Harcourt Road eastbound, Tim Mei Avenue northbound, Fenwick Pier Street eastbound, Harbour Road eastbound, Fleming Road northbound, Convention Avenue eastbound, Hung Hing Road eastbound, Hung Hing Road flyover, Victoria Park Road eastbound, Island Eastern Corridor eastbound, Wing Tai Road eastbound and continues the laps in Chai Wan Circuit in Sheung Ping Street, Sheung On Street, Chong Fu Road, Shing Tai Road southbound and Wing Tai Road eastbound.  Road closures, intermittent road closures and traffic diversions will be implemented in phases along the race route.

Route Diversion for Buses and Minibuses

- A total of 14 bus routes running along Queen's Road Central in Central will be temporarily diverted to operate via Des Voeux Road Central. Bus stops on Queen's Road Central outside Cheung Kong Centre and opposite the HSBC Main Building will be temporarily suspended.  Temporary bus stops for the diverted bus routes in Central will be provided at Des Voeux Road Central westbound outside the HSBC Main Building and the Landmark.

- A total of three bus routes and four green minibus routes operating in Chai Wan will also be diverted.

     Taxi and public light bus drivers travelling to Chai Wan Industrial Area for liquidified petroleum gas refilling are advised to take note of the road/lane closures to be implemented in the area.

     People are advised to allow more time to get to their destination and watch out for the latest traffic news broadcast via TV and radio channels.  People planning to go to the affected areas are advised to use public transport as far as possible.  In case of traffic obstruction, motorists are urged to exercise patience and to take heed of instructions from the Police officers on site.
