Special traffic and transport arrangements in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay on November 28 and 29

     The Transport Department today (November 26) reminded the public that the following major special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay this Friday evening (November 28) and Saturday (November 29) to facilitate the holding of religious events at Hong Kong Stadium:

* From about 4.30pm on November 28, and from about 8.30am and about 2.00pm on November 29, Caroline Hill Road and Eastern Hospital Road will be re-routed to one-way southbound and one-way northbound respectively for the arrival of participants.

* From about 9.05pm on November 28, and from about 12.35pm and about 6.20pm on November 29, Caroline Hill Road, Eastern Hospital Road and Link Road northbound will be closed until crowds have dispersed.

* During the period of road closures, Citybus Route 5B, GMB Routes 5, 14M and 30, and Residents' Service Route HR51 will be temporarily diverted.

* From 4.30pm to about 10.30pm on November 28, and from 8.30am to about 7.45pm on November 29, Citybus Routes 37A, 75, 90, 97 and New World First Bus Route 590A heading for Admiralty/Central will be temporarily diverted via Canal Road flyover and Gloucester Road. In addition, Cross Harbour Bus Routes 601, 680 and 690 heading for Admiralty/Central will be temporarily diverted via Tsing Fung Street flyover, Victoria Park Road and Gloucester Road.

* The bus stops and GMB stop on Leighton Road near Matheson Street and outside the Post Office Recreation Club will be temporarily suspended.

* On-street car parking spaces and car parks within the road closure areas will be suspended.

     The Transport Department anticipates that the traffic in the vicinity of the affected areas, especially on Friday evening and on Saturday, will be very congested. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In cases of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. Poeple planning to go to the affected area are advised to make use of public transport.

     The Transport Department and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and will implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and the public are advised to be alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.
