Special traffic and transport arrangements for Feb 1 charity walk

The Transport Department announces the following temporary traffic and transport arrangements for the Po Leung Kuk Charity Walk in Wan Chai and Southern Districts on February 1 (Sunday).

From 8am onward, the following road sections will be temporarily closed until it is safe to reopen them to normal vehicular traffic:

(i)  Stadium Path;
(ii) Wong Nai Chung Gap Road (uphill inner lane) outside the Leisure and Cultural Services Department's tennis courts; and
(iii) Link Road southbound (uphill) between Caroline Hill Road and Broadwood Road. The northbound downhill section will be closed only when strictly necessary.

Broadwood Road northbound (downhill) between Link Road and Tai Hang Road, and Tai Hang Road westbound between Broadwood Road and Blue Pool Road will be closed from 8.30 am, except for the section west of upper Blue Pool Road which will be kept open for access by local residents.

Caroline Hill Road between Link Road and Eastern Hospital Road will be closed from 9 am. The entire Caroline Hill Road will be closed if necessary.

Traffic diversions will be implemented in phases from 8 am onward. The roads affected will include Caroline Hill Road, Leighton Road, Eastern Hospital Road, Link Road, Broadwood Road, Perkins Road, Tai Hang Road and Mount Butler Road.

All learner drivers will be prohibited from entering the road sections on the Charity Walk route from 7am to 3pm.

Citybus routes 5B, 11 and 41A, as well as GMB routes 14M and 24M will be diverted from 8 am onward.

Police will implement the above road closures and traffic reroutings depending on the crowd and traffic conditions. Appropriate traffic aids will be erected to guide motorists and notices will be displayed to advise of the changes.
