Special traffic and transport arrangements in Causeway Bay on Sunday

***********************************************************

The Transport Department today (January 9) reminded the public that the following major special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented in Causeway Bay on Sunday (January 11) to facilitate the holding of the "2008-2009 Hong Kong and Kowloon Walk":

* From about 8am, Stadium Path, Link Road southbound (uphill), Broadwood Road northbound (downhill), Caroline Hill Road between Link Road and Eastern Hospital Road, and Tai Hang Road westbound between Broadwood Road and Blue Pool Road will be temporarily closed in phases.

* During the period of road closures, Citybus Routes 5B, 11 and 41A, Green Minibus Routes 5, 14M, 24M and 30 will be temporarily diverted.

* Bus stops, on-street car parking spaces and car parks within the road closure areas as well as the car park at Coombe Road will be temporarily suspended.

The Transport Department anticipates that the traffic in the vicinity of the affected areas will be congested. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In cases of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. People planning to go to the affected area are advised to make use of public transport.

The Transport Department and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and will implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and the public are advised to be alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.

Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are now available on the department's website (www.td.gov.hk).
