Fare adjustments for New Territories taxis
****************************************** The new fares for New Territories (NT) taxis approved by the Chief Executive-in-Council will take effect from Friday (January 16).
The new fares are as follows:
NT Taxi Fare

Flagfall charge for the first 2km $14.50
or any part thereof
Incremental charge for every subsequent
200m or part thereof and for every
Waiting period of one minute or part
thereof
-- Below $53.50* $1.30
-- $53.50* and above $1.00
* The total fare for a journey of 8km is $53.50 under the new NT taxi fare scale if no "waiting time" charge is incurred.
The taxi fare table setting out the new fares is required to be displayed inside the compartment of NT taxis from January 16. Also, before the taximeter has been calibrated to show the new fares, the fare conversion table issued by the Transport Department is required to be displayed inside the taxi in order to charge the new fares.
The taxi driver should write down the new fare on the taxi form receipt before issuing it to the passenger.
