Special traffic and transport arrangements for Che Kung Festival

The Transport Department reminds the public that temporary traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in Tai Wai, Sha Tin on the Second and the Third Days of the Lunar New Year (January 23 and 24) to accommodate the large numbers of worshippers expected to visit the Che Kung Temple.

These arrangements will involve closure of the slow lane of Che Kung Miu Road westbound between Chui Tin Street and Sha Tin Tau Road, as well as some public transport services.

KCRC East Rail train service will be increased.

The bus stops at Che Kung Miu Road eastbound, opposite Sha Tin Tsung Tsin Secondary School, and Che Kung Miu Road westbound, outside Lee Uk Tsuen, will be temporarily suspended.

A temporary taxi drop-off point will be set up at Sha Tin Tau Road near Che Kung Temple.

The public carpark adjacent to the Che Kung Temple will be temporarily closed.

People who plan to visit the Che Kung Temple on these two days are advised to use public transport. In the event of traffic congestion, motorists are urged to exercise tolerance and patience and heed the instructions of Police. The public should listen to the radio to hear the latest traffic news.

Details of the temporary traffic and transport arrangements are available at the "Traffic Notices" of the Department's website (http://www.td.gov.hk/traffic_notice).

The public may also call the Government's 24-hour hotline - 1823 - for details.
