Special traffic and transport arrangements in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay on Friday, Saturday and Sunday

************************************************************

The Transport Department (TD) today (March 25) reminded that special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay from Friday to Sunday (March 27 to 29) to facilitate the holding of rugby matches at Hong Kong Stadium. The arrangement includes:

* From about 2.30pm on Friday, from about 7.30am on Saturday and from 7am on Sunday, Caroline Hill Road and Eastern Hospital Road will be re-routed to one-way southbound and one-way northbound respectively to facilitate the arrival of spectators and traffic.

* From about 8.55pm on Friday, from about 6.55pm on Saturday and from 6.25pm on Sunday, Caroline Hill Road, Eastern Hospital Road and Link Road northbound will be closed to facilitate the dispersal of spectators until crowds have dispersed.

* During the period of road closures, Citybus Routes 5B, 37A, 75, 90 and 97, New World First Bus Routes 23B, 590A and M590, Cross Harbour Routes 601, 680, 690, 914 and 948, and GMB Routes 5, 14M and 30 will be temporarily diverted.

* Free shuttle bus service will be operated from MTR Admiralty Station to Hong Kong Stadium before the event and from Hong Kong Stadium to Lan Kwai Fong and MTR Admiralty Station after the event. Cross Harbour Bus Route 117R will operate from Hong Kong Stadium to Mong Kok after the event.

* On-street car parking spaces and car parks within the road closure areas will be suspended.

The TD anticipates that the traffic in the vicinity of the affected areas will become very congested, especially Gloucester Road heading for Happy Valley, Leighton Road, Causeway Road and Wan Chai Exit of Aberdeen Tunnel. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In cases of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. People planning to go to the affected areas are advised to make use of public transport.

The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and will implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and the public are advised to watch out for the latest traffic news through the media.

Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are now available on the department's website (www.td.gov.hk).
