Special traffic arrangements on Hong Kong Island tomorrow

     The Transport Department today (April 24) reminded the public that special traffic arrangements would be implemented in phases in Causeway Bay, Wan Chai, Admiralty, Central and Western District from about 2.15pm tomorrow (April 25) to facilitate a public procession on Hong Kong Island.

     The procession will go from Victoria Park to Western District via Sugar Street, Yee Wo Street westbound, Hennessy Road westbound, Queensway westbound, Queen's Road Central westbound, Queen's Road West westbound, Western Street and Des Voeux Road West.

     To facilitate the procession, Sugar Street will be temporarily closed and the public light bus stand in Sugar Street will be suspended from about 2.15pm to 3.15pm. From about 2.30pm onwards, the slow lane of Yee Wo Street westbound, Hennessy Road westbound, Queensway westbound, Queen's Road Central westbound, Queen's Road West westbound, Western Street and Des Voeux Road West will be intermittently closed for the procession. In addition, the bus stops, public light bus stops and taxi pick up/drop off points along the procession route will also be temporarily suspended. Commuters are advised to take note of the instructions of the Police and the public transport operators.

     People who plan to go to the affected areas are advised to use public transport. In cases of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow instructions of the Police.
