Special Lunar New Year traffic arrangements for Lam Tsuen 'Wishing Tree'

The Transport Department reminds the public that depending on the traffic situation, a series of temporary traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in the vicinity of the "Wishing Tree" at Lam Tsuen, Tai Po from January 22 to 25, and on January 30 and February 1.

Temporary Traffic Arrangements

* All motor vehicles on Lam Kam Road, except local residents' vehicles and coaches, are prohibited from entering local access roads at the Wishing Tree site and its carpark.
* All motor vehicles, except franchised buses and green mini-buses, accessing Lam Kam Road bound for Shek Kong are permitted to travel only on the left-hand lane of the slip road leading from Tolo Highway northbound to Lam Kam Road Interchange.

As a result, vehicles on Fanling Highway southbound, Hong Lok Yuen Road westbound, Tai Po Road (Tai Wo) westbound and Tai Wo Service Road West southbound heading for Lam Kam Road Shek Kong bound will be diverted via Fanling Highway southbound/Hong Lok Yuen Road westbound/Tai Po Road (Tai Wo) westbound/Tai Wo Service Road West southbound, Lam Kam Road Interchange, Tolo Highway southbound, slip road to Tai Po Road (Yuen Chau Tsai), Tai Po Road (Yuen Chau Tsai) northbound, roundabout, Tai Po Road (Yuen Chau Tsai) southbound, slip road to Tolo Highway northbound, Lam Kam Road Interchange and Lam Kam Road Shek Kong bound.

* The slip road from Tai Po Tai Wo Road to Tolo Highway northbound will be temporarily closed to all vehicles, except franchised buses and green minibuses.

Vehicles on Po Nga Road westbound, Tai Po Tai Wo Road southbound, Tai Po Tau Shui Wai Road northbound and Mui Shu Han Road northbound heading for Hong Lok Yuen, Sheung Shui or Yuen Long via Tolo Highway northbound will be diverted via Tai Po Road (Tai Wo) westbound, slip road, Lam Kam Road Interchange and Tai Wo Service Road West northbound.

Public Transport Services

* * Service on KMB Route 64K (Tai Po KCR Station - Yuen Long (West)) and GMB Route 25K (Tai Po Market - Ng Tung Chai) operating via the Wishing Tree tourist site will be increased. Depending on the traffic situation, special departures will operate via Tai Po Tai Wo Road and Tolo Highway.
* * There will be no parking facilities for private cars at the Wishing Tree site. Illegally parked vehicles will be towed away without notice and owners will be prosecuted.

People who plan to visit the Wishing Tree are advised to use public transport. In case of traffic congestion, motorists are urged to exercise tolerance and patience and heed the instructions of Police. The public should also listen to the radio for the latest traffic news.
