Arrangement for cross-boundary private cars to use Shenzhen Bay Port

************************************************************

The Transport Department announced today (September 21) that cross-boundary private cars with closed road permits (CRP) for Lok Ma Chau, Man Kam To and Sha Tau Kok crossings are allowed to use the Shenzhen Bay Port (SBP) until September 30, 2010.

"The arrangement for cross-boundary private cars to use SBP will end on September 30, 2009.  To encourage usage of SBP by the private car quota holders of the other three land boundary crossings, the Hong Kong and Guangdong governments have reached agreement to allow the continuing usage of the SBP for another 12 months between October 1, 2009 and September 30, 2010, by means of valid CRP and the approval letters issued by the department," a department spokesman said.

"The Transport Department will send letters to the private car quota holders of Lok Ma Chau, Man Kam To and Sha Tau Kok crossings to inform them of the arrangements shortly," the spokesman added.
