Special traffic and transport arrangements in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay this Sunday

************************************************************

The Transport Department (TD) today (November 5) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay this Sunday (November 8) to facilitate the holding of the Hong Kong Scout Rally at Hong Kong Stadium:

* From about 7.30am, Caroline Hill Road and Eastern Hospital Road will be re-routed to one-way southbound and one-way northbound respectively.
* From about 12.05pm, Caroline Hill Road, Eastern Hospital Road and Link Road northbound will be closed until the crowd disperses and road closures are lifted.
* During road closures, Citybus Route 5B and GMB Routes 5, 14M, 21A, 21M and 30 will be temporarily diverted. The bus stops on Tung Lo Wan Road opposite to St Paul's Hospital, Leighton Road eastbound near Matheson Street and Leighton Road westbound outside Post Office Recreation Club will be suspended.
* On-street car parking spaces and car parks within the affected areas will be suspended.
* Cross Harbour Bus Route 117R will operate from Hong Kong Stadium to Mongkok after the event.

The TD anticipates that the traffic in the vicinity of the affected areas will be very congested on that day. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. People planning to go to the affected areas are advised to make use of public transport services.

The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and will implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and the public are advised to be alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.

Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are now available on the department's website (www.td.gov.hk).
