Special traffic and transport arrangements in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay on Wednesday

************************************************************

The Transport Department today (November 16) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay on Wednesday (November 18) to facilitate the holding of football match at Hong Kong Stadium. The arrangements will mainly include:

* From about 4.30pm, Caroline Hill Road and Eastern Hospital Road will be re-routed to one-way southbound and one-way northbound respectively for the arrival of spectators and vehicles.

* From about 8.05pm, Caroline Hill Road, Eastern Hospital Road and Link Road northbound will be closed for the dispersal of spectators until crowds have dispersed and road closures have been uplifted.

* During the period of road closures, Citybus Route 5B, Green Minibus Routes 5, 14M, 21A, 21M and 30, and Residents' Service Route HR 51 will be temporarily diverted.

* Cross Harbour Bus Route 117R will operate from Hong Kong Stadium to Mongkok after the event.

* From 4.30pm to 9.30pm, some of the bus stops on Leighton Road will be suspended or relocated. Bus companies will put up notices at the affected bus stops to inform passengers of the temporary arrangement.

* On-street car parking spaces and car parks within the affected areas will be suspended.

In addition, night horse race meetings will also be held at Happy Valley Race Course. The Transport Department anticipates that the traffic in the vicinity of the Race Course and Hong Kong Stadium will be significantly congested. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In cases of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. People planning to go to the affected area are advised to make use of public transport services.

The department and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and will implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and the public are advised to be alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.

Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are now available on the department's website (www.td.gov.hk).
