Special traffic and transport arrangements in Causeway Bay, Wan Chai and Central on Sunday

************************************************************

The Transport Department (TD) today (December 10) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented in Causeway Bay, Wan Chai and Central on Sunday (December 13) to facilitate the holding of public procession from Keswick Street and Victoria Park to Central Government Offices. The arrangements will mainly include:

* From 12.15pm to 3pm, Sugar Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic.

* From about 1.30pm to about 3.30pm, the slow lane of Yee Wo Street westbound, Hennessy Road westbound, Queensway westbound and Queen's Road Central westbound east of Ice House Street will be intermittently closed in phases to facilitate public procession.

* From 12.15pm to 3pm, the public light bus stand in Sugar Street will be suspended. In addition, the bus stops along the procession route will also be intermittently suspended in phases during the holding of procession.

The Transport Department anticipates that the traffic in the vicinity of Causeway Bay, Wan Chai and Central will be very congested. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the police. People planning to go to the affected areas are advised to make use of public transport services.

The department and the police will closely monitor the traffic situation and will implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and the public are advised to be alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.

Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are now available on the department's website (www.td.gov.hk).
