Transport Dept coordinates public transport during MTR incident

The Emergency Transport Coordination Centre (ETCC) of the Transport Department (TD) closely monitored and coordinated the public transport services during an emergency incident at Admiralty MTR Station this (January 5) morning.

Shortly after 9am, an MTR train heading for Admiralty MTR Station from Tsuen Wan was reportedly found smoking as it approached Admiralty MTR Station. When informed, the ETCC immediately liaised with bus companies and Star Ferry Company Ltd to strengthen bus and ferry services respectively to cater for a large crowd of passengers affected by the incident. Ttransport Department staff was also deployed on site to report to the ETCC the traffic and passenger conditions.

Admiralty MTR Station was temporarily closed to facilitate the rescue operation by the Police and firemen.

Train services gradually resumed at 9.40am
