Emergency Transport Co-ordination Centre monitors return to classes tomorrow

The Transport Department will activate the Emergency Transport Co-ordination Centre from 6am tomorrow (January 5) to closely monitor transport and traffic conditions as students return to class following their Christmas and New Year holidays.

A spokesman for the department said close liaison would be maintained with the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation, the bus companies and green minibus operators to ensure adequate service levels and smooth passenger flows.

Passengers who need time to familiarise themselves with the new West Rail system and resulting changes in travel patterns should allow themselves more travel time than usual. The public is also advised to listen to TV and radio to stay abreast of the latest traffic situation.
