The Transport Department (TD) today (March 23) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay from Friday to Sunday (March 26 to 28) to facilitate the holding of the rugby matches at the Hong Kong Stadium.

     The arrangements mainly include:

* From about 2pm on Friday (March 26), from about 7am on Saturday (March 27) and from about 6.45am on Sunday (March 28), Caroline Hill Road and Eastern Hospital Road will be re-routed to one-way southbound and one-way northbound respectively to facilitate the arrival of spectators.

* From about 8.55pm on Friday, from about 6.50pm on Saturday and from 6.25pm on Sunday, Caroline Hill Road, Eastern Hospital Road, Cotton Path, Link Road northbound and Hoi Ping Road will be closed to facilitate the dispersal of spectators until crowds have dispersed.

* During the period of road closures, Citybus routes 5B, 37A, 75, 90 and 97, New World First Bus routes 590A and M590, Cross Harbour routes 601, 680, 690, 914 and 948, and GMB routes 5, 14M and 30 will be temporarily diverted.

* Free shuttle bus service will operate from MTR Admiralty station to Hong Kong Stadium before the event and from the Hong Kong Stadium to Lan Kwai Fong and MTR Admiralty station after the event. Cross Harbour bus route 117R will operate from Hong Kong Stadium to Mong Kok after the event.

* On-street car parking spaces and car parks within the road closure areas will be suspended.

The TD anticipates that the traffic in the vicinity of the affected areas will be congested. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. People planning to go to the affected areas are advised to make use of public transport services.

The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and will implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and the public are advised to be alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.

Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are now available on the department's website (
