Special traffic and transport arrangements for public procession on April 18

     The Transport Department (TD) today (April 16) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented in Wan Chai, Admiralty and Central from about 3.30pm this Sunday (April 18) to facilitate the holding of a public procession.

     The procession will start from Arsenal Street outside the Police Headquarters and take the route along Hennessy Road westbound, Queensway westbound, Queen's Road Central westbound and Battery Path with its destination at Central Government Offices.

     The special traffic and transport arrangements will mainly include:

Road closure
-------------
The slow lanes of Hennessy Road westbound west of Arsenal Street, Queensway westbound and Queen's Road Central westbound east of Ice House Street will be intermittently closed.  

Public transport services
-------------------------
All bus stops along Hennessy Road westbound west of Arsenal Street, Queensway westbound and Queen's Road Central westbound east of Ice House Street will be intermittently suspended.  Public transport operators will arrange publicity to inform passengers of the temporary arrangements.

Closure of carparks
-------------------
All carparks along Hennessy Road westbound west of Arsenal Street, Queensway westbound and Queen's Road Central westbound east of Ice House Street may be closed at short notice if necessary.

     Members of the public who plan to go to the affected areas are advised to use public transport. Motorists should avoid driving to the affected areas.  In case of traffic congestion, they are urged to exercise tolerance and patience, and take heed of directions from the Police in the affected areas.

     The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures as necessary.  Motorists and the public should watch out for the latest traffic news broadcast via media.
