Special traffic and transport arrangements in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay tomorrow

************************************************************

The Transport Department (TD) today (April 26) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay tomorrow (April 27) to facilitate the holding of a football match at the Hong Kong Stadium.

The special traffic and transport arrangements will mainly include:

* From about 6pm, Caroline Hill Road (between its junction with Leighton Road and Cotton Path) and the section of Hysan Avenue westbound between Sunning Road and Hoi Ping Road will be closed.
* From about 9.35 pm, Caroline Hill Road, Eastern Hospital Road and Link Road northbound will be closed for the dispersal of spectators until crowd disperses and road closures are uplifted.
* During the period of road closures, Citybus Route 5B, GMB Routes 5, 14M, 21A, 21M and 30, and Residents' Service Route HR 51 will be temporarily diverted.
* On-street car parking spaces and car parks within the affected areas will be suspended.

The TD anticipated that the traffic in the vicinity of the Hong Kong Stadium would be significantly congested. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. People planning to go to the affected area are advised to make use of public transport as far as possible.

The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and will implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and the public are advised to watch out the latest traffic news on radio and television.

Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are now available on the department's website (www.td.gov.hk).
