Special traffic and transport arrangements at HKCEC this Friday

The Transport Department (TD) today (April 28) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented in Wan Chai North starting this Friday afternoon (April 30) to facilitate the move-out activities of exhibitions held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).
The special traffic and transport arrangements include:
Road closure
------------
(i) From 3pm to 7pm

Expo Drive East and the section of Expo Drive west of HKCEC Phase II will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic (except buses and those with valid entry labels issued by the HKCEC).
(ii) From 7pm to 11pm

Expo Drive East and the section of Expo Drive west of HKCEC Phase II will be temporarily closed to all goods vehicles (except those with valid entry labels issued by the HKCEC).
Suspension of Taxi Stand

The taxi stand at Expo Drive East will be suspended from 3pm to 7pm.
The TD anticipated that many vehicles will be going to or leaving the HKCEC in batches starting on Friday afternoon. The traffic in Wan Chai North will be busy and congested. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to Wan Chai North unless necessary. In case of traffic congestion, motorists are urged to exercise tolerance and patience, and to heed directions from the Police. Members of the public who plan to go to the affected area should use public transport services as far as possible.
The TD and the police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures as and when necessary. Motorists and the public should be alert to the latest traffic news broadcast via the media.
