Special traffic and transport arrangements in Tai Po on May 2

************************************************************

The Transport Department (TD) today (April 29) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented in Tai Po this Sunday (May 2) to facilitate the holding of the Grand Parade to celebrate the Tin Hau Festival at Tai Po Market.

The section of Kwong Fuk Road between Po Heung Street and Wan Tau Street, the section of Po Heung Street between Plover Cove Road and Nam Shing Street, Po Heung Bridge northbound, the section of Tai Po Tai Wo Road eastbound between Ting Kok Road and On Cheung Road, and the section of Ting Kok Road southbound between Ting Tai Road and Tai Po Tai Wo Road will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic from 10.30am to 1.30pm.  Concurrently, 16 franchised bus routes and 13 green minibus routes operating via the above mentioned road sections will be diverted.

The TD anticipates that the traffic in Tai Po Old Market and in the vicinity of Tai Po Complex will be very busy.  Motorists are advised to avoid driving to these areas.  They should exercise tolerance and patience in case of traffic congestion and follow the instructions of the Police on site.  Passengers of public transport services are advised to pay special attention to public transport services diversion, frequency adjustment and relocation or suspension of en-route stops.

The TD also appealed to the public for their understanding, co-operation and tolerance in respect of the inconvenience that might be caused by the road closures, traffic diversions and management measures in the areas.

Members of the public are urged to be alert to the latest traffic broadcasts on radio and television channels.  They may also browse the TD website (www.td.gov.hk) or call the 1823 Call Centre for details.
