Special traffic and transport arrangements in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay this Sunday

************************************************************

The Transport Department (TD) today (May 14) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay this Sunday (May 16) to facilitate the holding of football matches at Hong Kong Stadium.

     The arrangements mainly include:

* From about 12.30pm, the section of Caroline Hill Road between Leighton Road and Cotton Path, and the section of Hysan Avenue westbound between Sunning Road and Hoi Ping Road will be closed.

* From about 5.35pm, Caroline Hill Road, Eastern Hospital Road, Cotton Path and Link Road northbound will be closed for the dispersal of spectators until the crowds disperse and road closures are lifted.

* During the period of road closures, Citybus Route 5B, Green Minibus Routes 14M, 21A, 21M and 30, and Residents' Service Route HR 51 will be temporarily diverted.

* On-street car parking spaces and car parks within the affected areas will be suspended.

The TD anticipates that the traffic in the vicinity of Hong Kong Stadium will be significantly congested. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In cases of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. People planning to go to the affected area are advised to make use of public transport.

The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and will implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and the public are advised to be alert to the latest traffic news broadcast via radio and television channels.

Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are now available on the department's website (www.td.gov.hk).
