Advice for cross-boundary passengers at Christmas and New Year

The Transport Department urges passengers who plan to cross the boundary during the Christmas and New Year holidays to travel by rail via the Lo Wu Control Point whenever possible to avoid congestion on the Lok Ma Chau - Huanggang cross-boundary shuttle bus service.

"Many passengers are expected to travel via the Lok Ma Chau Control Point on Christmas Eve and during the holidays," a spokesman for the department said. "Passengers are advised to make their journeys during the less busy periods in late morning or early afternoon.

"As the waiting time for the shuttle bus service could be longer if traffic at the Lok Ma Chau crossing is busy, passengers should follow the orders and advice of the on-site staff when queuing up at the Lok Ma Chau terminus," he added.

Passengers who plan to use the cross-boundary shuttle are advised to check the New Hong Kong Bus Company enquiry hotline (2471 0792) and radio and television broadcasts for traffic conditions.
