Special traffic and transport arrangements in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay tomorrow

************************************************************

The Transport Department (TD) today (September 29) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay tomorrow (September 30) to facilitate the holding of a football match at the Hong Kong Stadium.

     The arrangements mainly include:

* From about 6.30pm, Caroline Hill Road between Leighton Road and Cotton Path, and the section of Hysan Avenue westbound between Sunning Road and Hoi Ping Road will be closed.

* From about 9.35pm, Caroline Hill Road, Eastern Hospital Road, Cotton Path and Link Road northbound will be closed for the dispersal of spectators until crowd disperses.

* During the period of road closures, Citybus Route 5B, Green Minibus (GMB) Routes 14M, 21A, 21M and 30, and Residents' Service Route HR 51 will be temporarily diverted.

* From about 10pm, Cross Harbour Bus Route 117R will operate from Hong Kong Stadium to Mong Kok.

* On-street car parking spaces and car parks within the affected areas will be suspended.

The TD anticipated that the traffic in the vicinity of the Hong Kong Stadium would be congested. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. People planning to go to the affected areas are advised to make use of public transport services.

The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and will implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and the public are advised to be alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television stations.

Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are now available on the department's website ( www.td.gov.hk ).
