Public Transport Services Arrangement for the Animated Version of Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival

*******************************************************

     The Transport Department (TD) today (November 7) reminded the participants of the Animated Version of Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival to make use of public transport services to and from AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE).  The public transport operators will make appropriate arrangements.

     During the exhibition period from November 9 to 29, participants may choose the following public transport services to and from AWE:

1. MTR Airport Express Line (AEL);
2. MTR Tung Chung Line to connect bus route S1 or special shuttle bus route X1 at Tung Chung Station Bus Terminus;
3. Eight "E" bus routes with destination at AWE (E11, E21, E22, E22A, E22B, E22P, E32 and E41);
4. Nine "A" bus routes will be diverted via AWE on their journeys to Airport (A10, A11, A12, A21, A22, A31, A41, A41P and A43).  Participants leaving AWE may take bus service at the designated boarding area to Airport Ground Transportation Centre to interchange with other bus routes to urban and N.T. areas.

     Relevant public transport operators will adjust the service serving AWE as according to the actual number of participants.  MTR Corporation Ltd. and bus companies will also provide concession to the participants.

     Participants from Mainland may use the existing cross boundary bus service to and from AWE.

     The TD anticipates that the traffic in the vicinity of Tung Chung during the Exhibition period will be busier than normal days.  Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas.  The Police and Airport Authority Hong Kong will set up temporary traffic signage at the main road junctions heading to AWE to direct motorists.

     Besides, Airport passengers are reminded that MTR AEL and "A" bus services may be busier during the Exhibition period and they are urged to allow more travelling and waiting time.

     Leisure and Cultural Services Department will set up a co-ordination centre during the Exhibition period to closely liaise with relevant departments and organisations.  TD's Emergency Transport Co-ordination Centre will also closely monitor the pedestrian flow and traffic condition at AWE, Airport and related MTR stations.  Appropriate traffic regulating measures will be implemented with the Police, if necessary.  Members of the public please pay attention to the latest traffic news broadcast through radio and television channels.

     Participants are reminded to plan their journey early.  For details of the traffic and public transport arrangements, please browse the department's website (www.td.gov.hk) or call 1823 Call Centre (Tel no.: 1823).
