Special traffic and transport arrangements in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay this Sunday

************************************************************

The Transport Department (TD) today (November 25) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay this Sunday (November 28) to facilitate the holding of a religious event at the Hong Kong Stadium.

The special traffic and transport arrangements mainly include:

* From about 8am onwards, Caroline Hill Road between Leighton Road and Cotton Path, and Hysan Avenue westbound between Sunning Road and Hoi Ping Road will be closed.

* From about 11.45am onwards until crowd disperses and road closures are lifted, Caroline Hill Road, Eastern Hospital Road, Eastern Hospital Road service road, Cotton Path, Link Road northbound, Hoi Ping Road and Leighton Road will be closed to facilitate the dispersal of spectators.

* During the period of road closures, Citybus Route 5B, Green Minibus Routes 14M, 26 and 30, and Residents' Service Route HR 51 will be temporarily diverted.

* On-street car parking spaces and car parks within the areas of road closure will be suspended.

The TD anticipates that the traffic in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay will be congested.  Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas.  In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police.  Members of the public planning to go to the affected areas are advised to use public transport as far as possible.

The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and will implement appropriate measures whenever necessary.  Motorists and the members of public are advised to watch out for the latest traffic news through radio and television.

Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are now available on the TD's website (www.td.gov.hk).
